Swanswater fishery from the air

The Fishery.

Set in beautiful natural surroundings, yet only 5 mins from the M9/M80 junction.
Swanswater offers flyfishing for top quality trout on 3 ponds.
The main water ( Swanswater ) is some 10 acres and offers bank fishing up to 36 rods plus 3 boats for hire. A float tube is available for hire or anglers may bring ther own.

The 2 smaller ponds the Millpond and the Meadow Pond are stocked with the same quality hard fighting fish as Swanswater although it has to be said they are slightly smaller fish.
The Meadow Pond is especially popular with the youngsters and beginners.

We have a daily stocking policy with top quality Rainbow, Golden,Brown, Blue and Tiger Trout.
All fish are reared on site from half a lb and only triploid or late maturing Rainbows are used. Swanswater is stocked with all varieties from 2lb to 18lb. The fish in the smaller ponds average 1.75lb, but bigger fish are quite common.

The Golden trout are popular in the Meadow Pond where they can been seen cruising and are easily targeted.

Facilities.

a record catch at SwanswaterFacilities include a comfortable fishing lodge with complimentary hot drinks, soup, soft drinks, crisps and sweets for sale. A microwave is provided for the anglers own use. Toilets including disabled facilities. Full disabled access to the ponds.
A limited selection of Flies and Nylon are on sale, tackle and float tubes can be hired. Tuition is available by prior arrangement.

Fishing advice.

a good catch at SwanswaterThe average depth of Swanswater is 7 to 8 feet with the deepest area being around the dam wall. The top end of the pond is around 3 feet deep offering great top of the water sport during the summer months.
In general Floating and Intermediate lines work well with the favourite flies being small lures ( during the winter months ) nymphs especially Damsel, Hares ear and Pheasant tail, Buzzers, Bloodworm and a selection of traditional wet flies.

 

Other information.

Swanswater is home to the Swanswater Cygnets Junior Angling Club. Any interested junior anglers up to the age of 16 are welcome along to the fortnightly classes where they are given help with all aspects of flyfishing. Instruction in flytying is also included. The more experienced members of the club also go on outings to other fisheries and compete for the annual club championship

How to get Here.

From junction9 ( Stirling Services ) on M9/M80, head for
BANNOCKBURN HERITAGE CENTRE.
Just before centre, turn left into CHARTERSHALL ROAD.
The Fishery is clearly signposted from this point.
