Pitfour Sporting Estates

The Fishery.

Pitfour Estate, the former home of the Ferguson family, counted amongst one of the largest estates in Aberdeenshire for 200 years.
In 1790 Admiral Ferguson created the 36 acre lake to beautify the policies.
Still now you can appreciate the impressive architecture complemented by the work of nature over two centuries.
The shelter of mature trees and Rhododendrons is a perfect setting for a peaceful and enjoyable fly fishing day out.

Stocking.

The fishery is well stocked with Rainbows and has a natural head of Brownies. The lake provides abundant natural feeding, producing well conditioned healthy fish. We are stocking on a minimum weekly basis with Rainbow trout of no less than 1lb 8oz and average 2lb 10oz, up to 10lb.
