Butterstone Loch

The Fishery.

Cloan Hatcheries Ltd.
Butterstone Loch.

Fishing Butterstone LochButterstone Loch is a 120-acre fishery based in the beautiful heart of Perthshire approximately 15 miles from Perth and 8 from Blairgowrie. It is set in an area of outstanding scenic beauty being flanked on one side by the Loch of the Lowes nature reserve and on the other by woods and hills. Ospreys, which nest locally, regularly show up the fishermen, and otters are occasionally seen along with a wide selection of other fauna and flora. So for the less dedicated angler there is usually plenty to see.

The loch shelves down to 34 feet but has a number of shallower bays in which an abundance of insect life can be found. The trout can be found at any depth and the evening rises are often phenomenal. Currently there are 24 boats plus a specialized ‘wheelyboat’ for use by disabled anglers available to hire. Electric motors are available to hire but you may wish to bring your own. Bank angling is not permitted.

Stocking

The loch is stocked twice weekly with Rainbow, Blue, Brown and Gold trout that will average 2lbs. The policy will also include the stocking of a variety of weights with fish up to 20lbs.
